1. A Random Number Generator (RNG) can be beaten.

Some say that by counting the symbols or numbers on a combination wheel, you can calculate your odds of winning. The RNG uses virtual images that match the images on the actual reel. The RNG is also a computer based program that spits out random combinations. Being able to count all those symbols will not matter.

2. If a slot machine has not paid out in a long time, it will pay out soon.

All slot machines use a system heavily based on random programs. There is no telling when, how often and how much a machine pays out. Although slot machines are programmed to produce a minimum number of payouts, there is no knowing whether it pays it out in a day, a week or a month.

3. You can tell which machine is about to payout.

Let us face it. A line of slot machines at the casinos look identical. No matter how sharp you think your eyes are, there is no visible difference in the slot machine design or structure. The design does not even determine or affect the pay out rate.

4. Using a hot coin will increase your chances of winning.

Again, the combinations are dished out by an RNG. The lever or button are just mechanisms used to signal the RNG to produce a combination.

8. Casinos can immediately control which machines will payout.

The gaming industry is a firmly regulated one. There is no chance that casino controls can manage switching payout odds immediately and without notice.

9. Using a club card in the slot machine will decrease the odds of a payout.

There is no connection between your card and the RNG. You will actually get less if you do NOT use your club membership card. The membership card actually gives you the chances to get rebates or comps by being a regular player. By not using it, the odds of getting rewards will naturally decrease.

10. It could have been you who won the jackpot at the machine you just left instead of the next person who played it.

Do not be too hard on yourself, in case this happens. The RNG calculates thousands of possible combinations at an alarming speed. Unless you can pull the lever or push the button at the same rate, the odds of catching the winning combination is all up to chance.
